The award-winning Sands Centre is Cumbria's premier venue for Arts, Events, Entertainment, Conferences, Exhibitions and Meetings, Health and Fitness and Sport and Recreation. Originally built in 1984 the centre now attracts over 650,000 visitors per year.

The programme of the centre goes from strength to strength and features top international orchestra's, theatre companies, opera and ballet groups, international recording artists as well as some of the best talent from the worlds of comedy and pop.

The centre provides a diverse range of Sports, Recreation and Health & Fitness activities as well as Fitness Connection a state of the art fitness facility. Customers range from two to ninety two and there is usually an activity for anyone.

The centre can also host a wide range of conferences, exhibitions and meetings ranging from car and ideal Homes exhibitions and national conferences to small meetings and seminars.
